Estes Park Car Shows

Aug. 14: Cruise up to Estes Park for two annual car shows: Coolest Car Show from 9am-3pm on July 4, and Auto Extravaganza from 10am-3pm on Aug. 14, featuring vintage first-generation (1967-’69) Firebirds. Geeks Who Drink

Geeks Who Drink hosts free, live pub quizzes at more than 60 bars and restaurants in the region, including several weekly sessions in Boulder. Kinetics Sculpture Race

Aug. 28: Kinetics, now in its 31st year, has moved from Boulder to Longmont’s Union Reservoir. Human-powered kinetic sculptures race around the reservoir Saturday at noon; view the sculptures up-close on Friday night at Longmont’s Festival on Main. Union Reservoir is on the east side of Longmont at 0461 Weld County Route 26. To participate, visit the website or call 303-651-8406.

Rocky Mountain Balloon Festival

Aug. 27-29: Watch dozens of hot air balloons floating over Chatfield State Park, and participate in themed activities, exhibits and vendor booths.
