Butterfly Pavilion Discovery Garden Series

Monthly talks by local master gardeners explore the fascinating relationships between insects and plants. Most are held Sundays at 1:30 at the Butterfly Pavilion, 6252 W. 104th Ave., but some are at alternate locations and times, so please check the schedule on the website. For adults and teens 16 and up. Please preregister by the Tuesday before the event. 720-974-1868.

COLORADO FEDERATION OF GARDEN CLUBS

Check out annual Colorado Home and Garden Show along with Garden Tours sponsored throughout the year by the Colorado Garden Clubs. For information and locations of upcoming events: 303-832-6390.

COLORADO GARDEN & HOME SHOW

Discover the Rocky Mountain region’s oldest and largest garden and home show. The show features entries in horticulture, design, artistic crafts and the youth division, and runs annually in winter at the Colorado Convention Center, 700 14th St., Denver. 303-932-8100.

COLORADO SHAKESPEARE GARDENS, annually in summer

See the plants of Shakespeare’s England, much like the ones the Bard might have observed on walks about his native countryside. The Colorado Shakespeare Gardens showcase flowers, herbs and vegetables featured in the season’s Shakespeare plays, alongside quotation and identification signs. Informal tours take place at 6:45pm on Tuesdays and Saturdays before evening performances; self-guided tours are also available. Located just west of the outdoor Mary Rippon Theatre on the CU campus. 303-735-1010.

DENVER BOTANIC GARDENS EVENTS

Denver Botanic Gardens is the hub of garden activity in the metro area, offering acres of plant displays, classes, lectures, plant shows, gardening certification, botanical illustration instruction, storytimes, and much more. The main gardens are located at 1005 York St.; call or look online for additional garden sites. 720-865-3500.

Whittier International School Garden Tour

On June 5 from 11am-2pm, private gardens in the area of Whittier International School, 2008 Pine St., will open their gates for you to wander, gaze and get great ideas. Ticket outlets and more information are available on the website.
