Community Festivals in Boulder County Colorado
BOULDER CREEK FESTIVAL, annually on Memorial Day Weekend Now in its 23rd year, this popular three-day festival is the unofficial kickoff to summer. Ten separate event areas and more than 500 vendors showcase everything from community arts and crafts to health alternatives and new technology. Five performance stages feature live music and dance events throughout the weekend. There are also carnival rides, numerous food and drink booths, and the signature Great Rubber Duck Race. PATRICK'S DAY PARADE AND FESTIVAL, annually the weekend before St. Patrick's Day Take in bagpipers, Irish dancers and Irish wolfhounds on March 15 at this lively block-and-a-half-long parade that runs up 13th Street from Conor O’Neill’s to Spruce Street and back again. The festival follows the parade in the parking lot behind Conor O’Neill’s with music, games, beer and food. Call for details. 303-449-1922. Estes Park Winter Festival, January 15-18 This eco-friendly festival offers a little bit of everythingcowboy poetry readings and ghost stories, Aquatic Center activities, tours at the Observatory, snowman making, a scavenger hunt, a chili cook-off, and horse and carriage rides. FROZEN DEAD GUY DAYS, March 5-7 Grandpa is still frozen in the Tuff Shed, and the entire community of Nederland (and lots of visitors) celebrate each year by embracing all things frozen for an entire weekend. STRAWBERRY FESTIVAL ANTIQUE SHOW, May 15-16 Held every year for more than 40 years on the weekend after Mother’s Day, this is one of the St. Vrain Historical Society’s signature events to raise funds for Society projects. On May 15-16, browse beautiful antiques as you enjoy fresh-strawberry shortcake with real whipped cream, dished up by Society volunteers.
