Saturdays: While adults shop at the Boulder County Farmers’ Market, kids can take part in free, guided art activities on the front porch of the Boulder Museum of Contemporary Art. The Art Underground, at 901 Front St. in Louisville, is a nonprofit center that offers classes for all ages in dance, theatre, music, photography, film and visual arts. BOULDER PARKS AND RECREATION CLASSES The city’s recreation centers offer classes in sports, arts and more at South Boulder Recreation Center, 1360 Gillaspie Drive; East Boulder Community Center, 5660 Sioux Drive; and North Boulder Recreation Center, 3170 Broadway. You can also stay fit with weights, cardio equipment, swimming or fitness programs. Classes are available for adults, children, teens and disabled individuals. Through Aug. 22: Reminiscent of an old-fashioned circus sideshow, a new traveling exhibit called Dr. Entomo’s Palace of Exotic Wonders explores the truths, myths and mysteries of the bewildering and often freakish invertebrate world. BVSD Lifelong Learning Kids’ Summer Programs June 1-Aug. 13: The Boulder Valley School District’s Lifelong Learning Program offers a wide variety of summer camps and classes for kids, including DNA and Forensic Science, Beginning French, Horse Play and Fun in the Kitchen. Check the website for details. July 19-Aug. 7: This popular three-week summer program focuses on the skills needed for acting Shakespeare. In collaboration with the Rocky Mountain Center for Musical Arts, the Colorado Music Festival conducts a series of interactive workshops for kids age 7-11. LONGMONT MUSEUM AND CULTURAL CENTER Families are invited inside the museum to check out the traveling exhibition “From Swords to Plowshares: Metal Trench Art of World War I and World War II” from July 17-September 26.
