Boulder County Kids, Children and Teen Events Kids can take part in free, guided art activities on the front porch of the Boulder Museum of Contemporary Art while adults shop at the adjacent Boulder County Farmers’ Market. Burger Recreation Center in Lafayette gives kids in grades 1-6 a place to go after school (until 6pm) for educational, recreational and cultural programmingnot random “free play.” There are active games, arts and crafts, assisted homework time, supervised computer use, and age-appropriate classes. BOULDER PARKS AND RECREATION CLASSES The city’s recreation centers offer classes in sports, arts and more at South Boulder Recreation Center, 1360 Gillaspie Drive; East Boulder Community Center, 5660 Sioux Drive; and North Boulder Recreation Center, 3170 Broadway. The session start at 10:15am, at different library branches depending on the day of the week. Colorado Children’s Day is an afternoon of free activities for elementary-school children and their guardians, designed to engage kids in age-appropriate activities. Among them are exploration of emergency vehicles, interactive live music, face painting, and games with CU athletes. April 30, noon-4pm on the 1300 block of the Pearl Street Mall.
