Boulder County Running Boulder is one of the world’s most recognized meccas for running. Elite athletes from around the globe come here to train, and locals by the thousand pound trails and pavement with abandon. BOLDER BOULDER 10K RACE, annually on Memorial Day Boulder’s biggest race is, of course, the Bolder Boulder on Memorial Day, May 26. Some 50,000 people run this 10k race, which dates to 1979; 80,000 come just to watch. Race yourself or cheer on some of the world’s elite runners as they loop through town. The state’s largest Memorial Day tribute follows at CU’s Folsom Field, featuring a 21-gun salute, F-18 flyovers and sky divers.
