Barbed Wire Books
This huge used bookstore hosts a variety of literary events including storytimes, classes, workshops and book discussion groups. A few events are noted below; check the updated schedule at www.barbedwire books.net. The store is at 504 Main St. in Longmont. 303-827-3620.
- Every other Saturday: Tarot readings with Josie Stephanchick, 10am-3pm
- 1st Tuesdays: The Grey Havens Group, a discussion of the works of J.R.R. Tolkien, 6-7:30pm
Boulder Book Store
Boulder Book Store, 1107 Pearl St., offers an email newsletter, book clubs, and frequent book signings and readings by local, national and international authors. 303-447-2074.
Center of the American West
Dec. 7: The center’s “Words to Stir the Soul” series spotlights some of the region’s best writing by bringing together writers and readers. The Dec. 7 event features Boulder poet and essayist Reg Saner, who became Boulder’s first poet laureate in 1999. 7pm at CU’s Old Main Chapel.
Left Hand Books
This shop is one of the last remaining all-volunteer, collective-run radical bookstores in the country. It offers author readings, films, book and magazine discussion groups, and more. The store is at 1200 Pearl St., No. 10 (below street level at Pearl and Broadway). 303-443-8252.

“So You’re a Poet” Reading Series
Mondays: The “So You’re a Poet” Reading Series takes place at the Laughing Goat Coffeehouse, 1709 Pearl St., Monday evenings from 8-11pm. On other evenings, there’s live music. See the events schedule at the website.
Stories on Stage
