Falafel King announces new products and healthy growth in 2013

Competition in the crowded hummus market doesn’t slow Falafel King’s expansion

With hummus sales sky-rocketing in the past three years, it appears the United States is on a trajectory for hummus to be the next salsa and appear in every fridge. If Falafel King has its vision fulfilled, then hummus and other healthy Mediterranean foods will be available in every grocery store without compromising on integrity of ingredients or traditional cooking methods.

Boulder-based Falafel King has been a Colorado pioneer in selling hummus and other traditional Mediterranean foods since its first restaurant opened on the Pearl Street Mall in 1979.

In July, Falafel King released Falafel & Tahina Hummus, a 100 percent plant-based hummus that tastes like the same flavors found in falafel balls, joining these Falafel King handcrafted dips: Traditional Hummus, Fire Roasted Red Sweet Pepper Hummus, Roasted Garlic Hummus, Roasted Hatch Green Chili Hummus, Sun-Dried Tomato & Basil Hummus, Spicy Hummus, Eggplant Baba Gannoush, and Tzatziki Cucumber Sauce.

“We are proud to be the first company to offer a hummus with the true flavor of falafel balls,” says Amnon Gilady, CEO of product development, and co-founder of Falafel King Enterprises.  “Creating new products based on traditional flavors, family recipes and years of living in and traveling throughout the Middle East and Mediterranean, is what I love about our company.”

Falafel King Hummus, Tzatziki, Baba Ganoush, falafel balls and pita are made with 100% plant-based ingredients, are gluten-free, and prepared in small-batches at the company’s own production plant in Boulder, Colo. Using extra virgin olive oil, real lemon juice, and cooking garbanzo beans from scratch (as opposed to using canned beans as many other companies do), and using only fresh ground imported spices is what separates Falafel King from the sea of conventional hummus brands on the market today.

A family-run business from the beginning, Amnon believes in quality before quantity. This business mind-set allows for always expanding product development. This month, Falafel King will launch a Chia Hummus, mixed with Certified Organic, Non-Genetically Modified Organism Salba Smart Chia.
