Pearl Street MallDedicated in August, Pearl Street Mall (pictured at left) is “Boulder’s Front Porch, a place to sit and watch the people go by, a place to stroll and look in the store windows, a place to meet and make friends, a place to be entertained,” wrote Jane Cracraft in an article in the Denver Post on Oct. 9, 1978

Danish Plan limiting new residential construction is adopted

Eight-year-old Celestial Seasonings moves to its current Gunbarrel location and begins selling tea internationally

KBCO (B for Boulder, C for Colorado) and KGNU start broadcasting; the first song broadcast on ’BCO was owner Bob Greenlee’s favorite, James Taylor’s Handyman—a brand-new song that had never aired before (pictured below)
